10 OF OUR FAVOURITE THINGS THIS WEEK

Our pick of things we love from the worlds of jewellery, accessories, fashion, beauty, food and random fun...

1) The wait is over for the latest highly anticipated beauty import. They’re such a steal so our advice is to get your lips on every flavour.

2) Whilst looking through photography archives for inspiration we came across our photo of the week. Is it too much to ask for us to look like that AND be holding hands with a kangaroo?

3) Our soundtrack to this week is filled with the mesmerising sounds of this duo.

4) Whether you’re a sun-worshipper or you prefer to stick to the shade - this ingenious product is our new answer to prolonging – or renewing – year round sunkissed skin.

5) We’re making sure our Pimms stays looking cool with this cocktail ring wrapped around our glasses.

6) This Youtube video still guarantees a smile.

7) Our to-do lists might not seem so daunting if we had this Buddy on our desk… Yes we’re a bit partial to sausage doggies.

8) We’ll be making an occasion out of lazy Sunday brunches with this gem of a recipe. Everyone is welcome!

9) The versatile summer throw-on dress, we love the contrast of a white dress against these blue earrings

10) When jewellery looks this good, why not create a feature?

Jewellery and Accessories Styling: Gilda’s Tryst Look of the Day

This week fashion intern Camille shows us how a working girl can throw on a few jewellery and accessories to transition a run-around work-day outfit to something fit for a night out with friends.

Here she wears the ONYX GOLD BANGLE with a selection of GOLD STACKING RINGS and makes a black and gold themed statement with the BLACK AND GOLD SPARKLY CUFF and the GOLD STUDDED CLUTCH BAG.

To inject some colour to the mix she wraps the OCTOPUS SILK SCARF.

These LABRADORITE GOLD TEARDROP EARRINGS finish the look off quite nicely thank you.

OUR TOP 10: FROM THE WORLDS OF FASHION, JEWELLERY, MUSIC, FOOD, ART AND MORE…

A whole bunch of things we love from the worlds of jewellery, accessories & fashion, food and drink, music and more...

1) This song has feel-good summer vibes that you’ll be whistling all day.

2) We will never turn down an invitation for a summer BBQ and this maxi dress makes our outfit choice simple – when it comes to accessorising all we will be wearing is this cuff

3) This handy little hair saviour is our handbag’s trusty companion during holiday and festival season, plus it smells like heaven. A wee spray of this with this headscarf instantly freshens up tired or dishevelled hair.

4) Do these bring back any memories? We are getting seriously sentimental over these retro recipes: Prawn cocktailBaked Alaska, and Eton Mess.

5) Our latest fashion blog following - these quirky and cute sisters even doll their pooches up.

6) Totally current and totally nostalgic: these 1960s inspired trousers are top of our pops.

7) … and this necklace is equally high on our wishlist

8) Making the most of this heat wave - we’re bringing happy hour to home – we’ll be mixing this seasonal cocktail in our make-shift garden-bar…

9) Who would have thought this random array of objects could create such a vibrant piece of artwork? Jewellery, jelly beans and cookies.

10) Yet another jewellery storage idea we have fallen for.

JEWELLERY AND ACCESSORIES STYLING: Look of the Day

Enjoying the unbroken stretch of Mediterranean-like sunshine? We are too, and today our fashion intern Camille styles her sunshine-ready outfit, pulling together a selection of jewellery and accessories from the Gilda’s Tryst collection. Her aim: create a fresh summer-time look.

Look Of The Day

Pastel Jewellery and Turquoise Bag

Here she wears a chiffon blouse and home-made cutoffs with a range of gold and pastel gemstone jewellery: she layers amazonite, rose quartz and pearl STACKING RINGS in gold. STACKING BANGLES with various gemstones grace one arm, while on the other is the ROSE QUARTZ BANGLE (available in store). To ensure head-to-toe chic she also wears the AMAZONITE GOLD DROP EARRINGS. The TURQUOISE CROSS BODY BAG is a definitive burst of colour.

Another accessorising option is this pretty PEACOCK MODAL SCARF perfect for cool summer evenings.

SUMMER HOLIDAY: HOW WE’LL BE ACCESSORISING

With the summer holidays fast approaching, we are daydreaming about exotic destinations with clear turquoise waters, cocktails at the beach bar, and fresh off the line seafood dinners. Our suitcases will be packed with bright non-crease sundresses, sandals and flip-flops, and a few too many bikinis.  But how will we accessorise?  For us, holidays aren’t the time for heavy coordinated accessorising, but we still like to make a statement.

Taking inspiration from some of our favourite icons (old and new), here are a few looks we’ll be channelling:

EARRINGS WITH DRAMA

We’ll do like Natalie Wood and fashion our beachwear with an oversized hoop earring. Kate Moss is our leading lady for proving it doesn’t matter what you wear (if anything at all…) – here she wears a simple bikini with bold earrings.  Evelyn Trip and Bridget Bardot both show how to work sun hats with statement earrings. The tip here is the more drama the better.
STACKING BANGLES

Bangles and bracelets are the jewellery fail-safe to complement low-key beachwear style. Our favourite girls: Lisa Fonssagrives, Beverly Johnson and Helen Beatty adorn their arms high with bracelets of contrasting textures and sizes. Barbara Bach masters easy holiday glamour, balancing a statement cuff with coordinating bangles on the other arm to pull together a great summer evening look – a styling move we will definitely emulate this summer.

LAYERING NECKLACES

Our girls here demonstrate that layering necklaces works as well for summer casual as for city dress up.  Edie Sedgwick and Stevie Nicks give a relaxed beach-town vibe by mixing chain pendants with bead and gemstone necklaces of different lengths. Necklaces long enough to wrap twice around the neck work especially well here – check out this one here from Gilda’s Tryst. Renowned as a groomed international fashionista of impeccable taste, Olivia Palermo’s relaxed summer look is no exception. We say: don’t be afraid to mix silver and gold because metallics are bang on trend for this summer. When you’re out and about, our top tip is to focus on the accessories and stick to a plain top so the necklaces really stand out.

COCKTAIL RINGS

These ladies show how to let the cocktail ring make the statement - and we are sure to have at least one on our summer holiday list.  Kate Moss and Blake Lively stick to large cocktail rings centred by opulent stones which make them wow. Ashley Olsen is rarely pictured without her must-have jewellery pieces: her rings. We love this edgier approach and she keeps her hands looking fierce with angular rings worn against stone rings for maximum impact.

SCARF PLAY

Here at Gilda’s Tryst we are big on silk scarves and it’s due to their versatility that we never pack a suitcase without them.  Scarves are great hair accessories and we might like Elizabeth Taylor, Kate Hudson, or even Allie (from The Notebook) use a scarf as a protector against naughty sea breezes, or like Elke Sommers, use it to liven up an outfit, give it some colour and movement. We could simply tie it around the neck in with cool European insouciance, evoked here perfectly by Sophia Loren or like Jessica Alba, just wrap it over a plain t.

COLOUR POP

Our final accessorising trend is big this summer - bright colours against bronzed skin always works.  We take inspiration from Kate Moss with her bold pink earrings against crisp white, and Natalie Wood’s bright green earrings against yellow.  Kate Hudson shows us how to clash colours to colour pop with the best of them.

OUR FAVOURITE THINGS – Fashion, Jewellery, Food, Accessories & More…

Another week, another compilation of everything we can’t get enough of from the worlds of fashion, accessories, food, beauty, literature and more.

1) A jump start to our mornings: this DIY muesli site gives us brekkie exactly how we like it.

2) We are loving this Naked Palette it sits in our handbag and takes us from work-day subtle to night-play smouldering eyes quicker than we can say eye shadow.

3) Envious of everyone that gets to bask in the sun whilst you’re indoors at your desk? We are too, but these sun loving critters give us a strange vicarious enjoyment.

4) Hats off to Queen Bey, in this photo shoot she does it again.
5) If we can’t sparkle like Bey, we can at least sparkle as much as her. This will be our accessory of choice. But are we a lady or a tramp?

6) Absorbing, addictive and completely annoying – we have developed a serious love-hate relationship with this app. Don’t say you were not warned….

7) Seeking gripping summer beach reading? This creepy thriller of the online age should deliver…

8) Summer season festivities are in full swing; parties, weddings… We are always on the lookout for that useful flexible clutch and we think the search ends here.

9) BBQ season is in full swing and this is our most popular summer salad recipe right now.

10) A girl can never have too many shoes, right? This week we are going for the naughty but nice girl-next-door look as we team these shoes with these earrings.

10 THINGS WE LOVE THIS WEEK

More things we love from the worlds of jewellery, accessories, fashion, food and drink, music, movies and general randomness.

1) As tasty as ice cream but won't leave you feeling as guilty! This is our favourite frozen strawberry yoghurt recipe - minimal ingredients required.

2) There are still bargains to be found in the summer sales and we are loving this dress, which will look great on sun-kissed skin. We’d team it with this silver pendant for some serious wow factor.

3) Tis the season to eat alfresco so we take some inspiration for a chic picnic hereOur top tip is that scarves double up as great blankets when it starts to get chilly.

4) An enticing twist on a firm favourite drink, this is the perfect accompaniment for lazy days in the garden with friends – the more the merrier!

5) Our obsession with 8tracks continues to find us music for every mood. We promise this playlist will brighten any day, so escape with these summer vibes (and pretend you’re not on your commute to work)…

6) We reckon each and every one of us deserves a little pampering so try this ice cream inspired trio of nail varnishes and keep your hands looking extra sweet by teaming it with our statement ring.

7) This motto for laid back summer hair – which we totally agree with.

8) All this talk of summer has got us compiling our destination bucket list and this place is top of it… But whilst we’re dreaming for that day to come you can add a Moroccan inspired exotic twist to your accessories with this friendship bracelet.

9) Are you a victim of over packing? Do you - like us - feel the imperative need to be prepared for every eventuality whilst in the air? Why cull when you can just buy a bigger bag: We fancy this weekend bag and it’s spacious enough to carry everything!

10) We're right in the midst of wedding season – and yes, we love weddings, but why can’t more speeches and toasts be as captivating as this?

My Welsh Wedding – Mud, Sun, Sparkle & Of Course Jewellery! By Amanda Gilda’s Tryst Co-Founder

We are in the midst of wedding season, and when we get enquiries from blushing brides-to-be about wedding jewellery, pearl earrings and bridesmaid's presents, I can't help but feel a little nostalgic for the wedding fever that took hold in my life last summer. I had a few bridezilla moments in the build up, but had a ball on the day. I can't wait to go to another wedding!

Young Alfie stealing the show in his navy knickerbockers, along with my pretty bridesmaids.

SEMI PRECIOUS SHERBERT ORANGE LUCKY STAR BRACELET
These ORANGE LUCKY STAR BRACELETS were the sweet-as-candy bracelets I chose for them as bridesmaid’s gifts.

When it came to my own jewellery I stalled, unable to choose, and a little overwhelmed with love for all the pieces in the Gilda’s Tryst collection that I wanted to be in the wedding photos.  But I couldn’t wear them all. In the end I chose a combination of pearl silver earrings and a sparkly necklace with rock crystal and silver (down my back).

PEARL SILVER AURORA EARRINGS
These PEARL SILVER AURORA EARRINGS had to be accessorised with flowery wellies; it had rained so much in the previous days that cars literally got stuck in the mud, but we were just glad that the sun came out.

The Gilda’s gang and guests were resplendent in Gilda’s Tryst jewellery; see Annabelle here in her sea-green drop earrings in Amazonite.

AMAZONITE SILVER DROP EARRINGS

Shireen read the Owl and The Pussycat on my behalf, and looked stunning in Gilda's Tryst earrings and cobalt blue.

We ate like kings and then danced and danced by the light of the moon to the retro eleven piece jive band that had come all the way from Brighton via Glastonbury.
